Mälardalen International School (MISV) is a new international primary school that opened in January 2022 in the heart of Finnslätten, Västerås, Sweden. Our mission is to create an IB world school that creates caring, knowledgeable and independent individuals. In an ever-changing world, we see learning skills, critical thinking, democratic values, and sustainability as an important foundation.
We offer our students high-quality education that inspires action, self-awareness and leadership for the world of tomorrow. MISV is an IB Candidate School. Read more about the International Baccalauerate at www.ibo.org.
Mälardalen International School is a primary school for children aged 5-16. To enroll, your child has to turn 5 years of age according to Swedish regulations.
There is a school fee of 50,000 SEK/school year. The school fee is paid twice a year and includes:
- all learning materials, including an ipad/a computer
- daily lunch and snacks
- all excursions
- extra curricular activities as well as student support
Our students are encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems.
We encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts.
Your child will develop multilingual skills and become more culturally aware through the development of a second language and cultural engagements and experiences.
Our learning community engages with people and communities to enrich our learning experiences and perspectives of the world beyond the classroom.
English is our school's internal working language. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or fluent in English, you will learn a lot more. At MISV, students also learn the Swedish language and culture.
We value our hard-earned reputation for quality, high standards, and pedagogical leadership. We achieve our goals by working with our fantastic teachers.
Together with our partners Northvolt and Hitachi, we promote intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life in the 21st century.
Our aim is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
We encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

When we talk about education and what it means, what we really want to know is how to instil in our students the knowledge that will make them better learners and better people. How can we be sure that we send them off into life with the skills they really need to grow and develop in a successful, happy way?
