Welcome to Mälardalen International School (MISV), located in the city of Västerås. We proudly provide an exceptional educational experience for children aged 5-16. Our doors first opened in January 2022, and since then, we've been dedicated to offering a nurturing and enriching educational environment. At MISV, our passion lies in crafting an educational journey that nurtures personal growth, sparks curiosity and prepares students for a promising future.

Primary Years Programme
5-11 years

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. At MISV we offer the PYP for students aged 6-11. The programme focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning.

12-16 years

The MYP is designed for students aged 12 to 16. It provides a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement – essential qualities for young people who are becoming global leaders.

At Mälardalen International School in Västerås, near Ludvika we offer a high-education to all our students. Our mission is to create an IB world school that creates caring, knowledgeable and independent individuals. Our International School near Ludvika is an IB Candidate School which means that we provide educational programs to students, with the aim of fostering a better and more harmonious world. Our two programs are designed to challenge students and encourage their personal growth.

In a constantly evolving world, we recognize the significance of cultivating skills, fostering critical thinking and upholding democratic values. As well as promoting sustainability as a vital groundwork.

How close it to Ludvika?

Traveling between cities should be easy and functional. Especially when living and working in two different places at the same time. Traveling from Västerås to the Central Station in Ludvika takes about 90 minutes by car and approximately around 100 minutes by train. So when we say that our international school is nearby Ludvika, we really mean it.

If not traveling by car, it is both practical and easy to wave your children goodbye for the day and continue to reach your destination with a 14 minutes bus from MISV to the Central Station in Västerås. In total, it takes around two hours to reach Ludvika from Mälardalen International School by traveling with bus or train.

Moving to Västerås

Moving to a new country or city can be as exciting as starting at a new school. In Västerås, you will discover a wide variety of activities that mix learning, fun and entertainment for both parents and children.

You can explore the history of Västerås at Västerås Castle, go back in time at Anundshög Ancient Burial Ground or see ancient rock carvings at Sigurdsristningen. If it's a rainy day, you can have a great time at Kokpunkten Water Park or learn at the Mälardalen University Museum. There are plenty of enjoyable activities in this city for the whole family, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
